4 stars (Mixed feelings about this game) - I have to say that Lineage II is very beautiful and really satisfied the roll playing aspect of what I was looking for. There are really cool looking creatures and a stunning world to explore. That said, I have to say that the downside to the game would be the people who play it. You really begin to question the inherent evil in the players themselves. The newbie towns are eerily empty but if you do see any other players you had better run fast. I actually went up to a few people and tried to start a conversation. Big mistake. Player killers run rampant in this game and unless controls are implemented to curb this I find it pointless to waste time getting killed over and over losing both xp and equipment. I have been playing WOW for some time now and think that Blizzard, with all the bugs they have to work out still, got it right. One last complaint would be the ease of movement of the characters. They seem stiff and become easily stumped in certain areas of the game. I would say that if you are tolerant of immature teenagers who get off on making you miserable, this game could be right for you. Its beautiful and exciting but the players also make it miserable and, after all, I did buy this to have fun. 4 stars (Is it worth the time and money?) - Im looking at the monthly online billing and it cost 14.95...this is only if you do it each month. That card is for 60days which is two months. The price after shipping is 32.97 ...unless you go super saver but then you dont get the card for 2weeks or more. But this will only save you .91, not even a dollar, whats the point of these cards. Though i do have to say that amazon is the only one that has put it at a lowered price so kudos to them, because you actually can save that 91cents if you wanted. 2 stars (Stunning graphics, brutal grind, and a strange take on PvP) - All the other reviewers have allready touched on L2's graphics, so there's little left to say in that departme... 1 stars (Everquest was never better before any expansions) - For reviewer Babash "Babash" : Get a life. You are the biggest loser still playing this big pile of crap so you can spout of you level and number of AAs you have. The game no longer has any reasonable lore. This game is a pile of garbage. I mixed up retarded mess. Fighting Gods? Playing as Cats on the moon? The game has been dumbed down so much and classes have no balance left. Classes are now so insanely powerful that they have to continue throwing out garbage weird retarded expansions to try to make a challenge. But who could get into this game? The story line is obsolete. If you are still playing this crap, then it is only because you do not want to lose your precious digital character. Nevermind the fact the world is trash all around you, as well as characters are now. I would play only if the ever sold the original game server software to setup a private server amongst friends. SOE would make alot of money if they sold the original game in this way, or provided an original server to play on. 5 stars (Depths of Darkhollow from beta) - Hi, I have played EQ for many years. It's been fun with lots of friends in various guilds. It was always a problem when my friends would get to various stages different than the one I was at. It would seem ideal that all your friends are the same level of gear/flags as you are, but it seems that you level with people that are there to win and you find friends in other places. That's how my EQ time with friends has been, they and myself always in different guilds and at different stages of game. DoD allows you to even the play field with any friend and you won't ever not have the class of character you need. The spirit shrouds give you all classes to play at any level equal orlower than yourself in stages of 5(70,65,60,etc.) So if your group needs a cleric, then by all means use a shroud and become a cleric. If your group has two clerics and no dps, then become a wizard... 5 stars (Another 3-AM nighter from Blizzard!) - What can I say that hasn't been said? Great add-on to one of the best games ever... be prepared to neglect spouse, kids, pets, work, etc... ;) 5 stars (simply addicting) - This game is is by far thye best game i hav ever played on the pc i love this game because it is so diverse from all the other rpg's. I am no newbie to this game i hav been playing diablo for 3 years and i am never bored with this game. I love this game first above all for the online play, just interacting with other people and completing quests as a team of up to 8. This game offers so much as far as creating a character that fits your style personall i love necromancers because i love summoning 20 skeleton warriors to fight by my side when tackling different tasks. There are 7 different characters you can be in diablo 2 lord of ddestruction there is the barbarian, amazon, assasin, sorceress, necromancer, druid, and last but not least the paladin(holy warrior). There are different skills you can aquire and different items you can recieve by killing various enemies. I love this game and i sugest you at least try it if u like rpg's. 5 stars (very good game) - challenging and entertaining and will take up a lot of your time but its worth it and the graphics are very good ... 4 stars (Ascaron - Buggy and Temperamental Software) - While their games have great potential their attention to detail is terrible. Never buy a first edition game from them. Wait several months for them to work out the bugs. I am very computer literate and could not find a way to make early versions work on very standard setup PC's. 5 stars (Excellent!) - I tend more towards RTS games, so when I randomly started playing Sacred Gold because it happened to be in my boyfriend's computer at the time, I was surprised to find myself hooked. (He still hasn't gotten his CD's back...) Sacred has a wonderful plotline, something lacking in many RPG's, but its real strength lies in the actual gameplay. There is a main quest running throughout the game, but you can also complete numerous side quests for rewards--these side quests can even affect your reputation in the game, it seems. The quests make the game very wide-open and allows you to play at your leisure. The Gold edition gives you eight different character types to choose from, and they happily stray a bit from the usual standards--yes, you have your dwarf, your battle mage, and your fighter, but you can also play a seraphim with angelic blood, a vampiress who is a knight by day, your choice of a wood elf or a dark elf, and my personal favorite, a demon. Each class has its own set of abilities, set as either spells or combat arts. Sacred Gold also contains the Underworld expansion, which is possibly even better than the original game. It carries on the storyline and has more challenging quests, both in the side quest and the main quest. Finally, this is a lovely game--the graphics are well above average, and the music--well, I have many of the tracks, especially from Underworld, on my iTunes playlist. ... 4 stars (Fun, but overall...) - Now, don't get me wrong here. Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-Earth is a very pleasing, eye-catching game that can keep one entertained for quite a long time. But if you choose to venture on a campaign, after returning to your computer to play a bit more again and again, you'll begin to notice that the game starts to become more and more repetitive as you progress. In the game, your goals are very simple: Build some places, nab some resources, beat the stuffing out of people who get into your way. The variation in scenery and in different battalions is pleasing and adds to the eyecandy of the game, but eyecandy doesn't make the playing much more fun - thus, even in the larger, more exciting battles, I began to get bored as the game progressed. Overall, the game will be a great enjoyment for hardcore LOTR fans, but for people who aren't as attatched to the series, it may be a bit of a disappointment - especially considering the heavy price. If you love games with fancy graphics and heaps of battle events, though, it's worth the $40 dollars you'll spend on it. 3 stars (Great Singleplayer, Lackluster Multiplayer / Replayability) - If you're looking at this game for the single player campaign, you won't be disappointed. It's fun and pretty lengthy. The graphics and the combat are all superb, as is the storyline and voice acting, much of which is done by the actors from the movies. However, this game has two faults: 1) Replayability. There really isn't any. It's a shame because with the "Risk-style" overhead map of middle earth, they could have turned this into some sort of large scale strategy wargame without much more effort. Instead, it's a fairly linear game and once you've played it through once there's not much point in playing it through again. So the campaign is long and fun but replayability is low. 2) Multiplayer isn't that great. I'll go into some depth on this: Multiplayer will seem fun at first. It's wel... 4 stars (Big price problem) - I would have ordered this game, but since the Macsoft store (U.S. only) sells it for 20 bucks there is no way you should be paying the price thay want here. Something is out of whack! 4 stars (Better than before) - After anxiously waiting for a Mac release of Railroad Tycoon 3, I find that it's a much-needed upgrade of Railroad Tycoon 2. However, that's really all it is -- I'd be tempted to call it Railroad Tycoon 2.5 rather than 3. There are probably enough changes to track building and industries to warrant a new version number, but other than that and a few interface changes, RT3 is essentially the same game as RT2. The most obvious difference is in the graphics. The new 3-D engine is fantastic. You can actually watch the side rods of most of the steam engines go round and round. Tracks are a bit high off the ground, which is a little distracting at first, but overall the graphics are a huge improvement. Track laying is substantially improved from the previous version of the game, as well. Most significant is the return of tunnels, one of the most maligned omissions in RT2. You can also build a bridge over another railroad or duck under an existing bridge, a feature fans of this game series have long wished for. Gone is the grid with its limitations of tracks at only eight angles. You can now create smooth, sweeping curves at any angle you please. That said, the gradients could use some tweaking. Particularly annoying are the ramps leading to bridges. It's silly to have a 3% grade just because you're crossing a river. Likewise, I found it very difficult to create a railroad in even slightly hilly terrain that didn't resemble a roller coaster. And don't think this is a model layout design aid, either. It's impossible to force tracks to go where you want them. Maintenance shops and service towers are now separate elements. You can't place a service tower at a depot and have a locomotive serviced while it's making its station stop. ... 5 stars (Lots of fun) - This game is surprisingly complicated and intricate yet easy to play. I enjoy it immensely. I love the combination of warrior and magic of the characters. 4 stars (Best MMORPG I've played thus far) - I've been playing this game since January 2005. Have played pretty much every day, sometimes ALL day. obviously I love this game, the question is why? Immersion. There are times when i feel so immersed in the world of Norrath, that I "become" my character. I feel fear, excitement, utter joy, even anger at times.Perhaps a bit hokey and sad, but let's face it, any mmorpg that can manage this feat has done something right. The grind. Is there one? Sure, if you allow it. My character is only level 46. I have been in no rush to get to end game as it seems many are. Unlike SWG, in eq2, you can choose to either grind your way boringly and without imagination to 50, or enjoy the world and your character development. there are plenty of quests to do (I have made alts, just to do the quests that I missed the first time around). Diversity of gameplay and grouping/soloing. Another reviewer had said here this is nto a game for soloers. Very untrue imo. I often make my best xp soloing. As far as duoing, I leveled my main to 40 almost exlusively by duoing. Was it slow? Yep. But, the point of duoing in a multiplayer game should not be only xp. Obviously in a game designed for multiple players, a duo will have slower xp than a larger group, and yes some quests will not be possible. In this game, a full group is best for getting through tough quests. A group of three however, is the best for xp. But, in the end, eq2 allows for a decent amount of xp/fun/chalenge/exploration for any kind of adventurer(s). Mentoring. I love this feature. it basically allows one to mentor down to any level, in order to group with a lower level friend. As a bonus, it gives the mentored extra xp. Graphics are impressive, character creation is detailed... 2 stars (Evercrack 2) - Sony has done a complete about-face from the changes made this summer designed to win over more casual players - the game is now definitely geared to the hardcore, ie. players who sink large amounts of time in a virtual world. If you have any real life commitments - do yourself a favor and waste no money on this game-turned-job. If you're a parent paying for your child's subscription - seriously reconsider funding this habbit. 2 stars (Once Again S.O.E. Drops the Ball) - When you play a game do you like to explore the lands fight mobs and complete quest or do you like to stair at the screen and do nothing but wait? 5 stars (Fantastic!) - If you're looking for a game to really make you think, Dark Fall is for you. It is delightfully creepy (the designer, if I remember correctly, is a former ghost-hunter, and the knowledge gained there is evident here) and has above-average graphics. The game can occasionally be frustrating when you realize that the clue you need is going to make you backtrack, but for the most part, the puzzles are tough but solvable--a few require an extra leap of logic, which only makes it all the more satisfying when you figure it out. And, finally, I highly recommend playing this game with another person. Not only does that make it more fun--you *will* get swept up into the plot, and it's great to have someone to talk about it with--but having two perspectives on a lot of the puzzles makes it a bit easier. I played through it with my boyfriend, and we're still wondering what happened with a few of the characters... 1 stars (Old School) - This game was so boring! I love adventure games and I was terribly disappointed with this one. I did not find this game to be scary in the slightest, in fact at some points I found the ghosts' voices to be annoying and humorous. All through the game I kept wondering what the relevance was in what the ghosts were saying and should I write down everything that I was reading...this game has a lot to read. The graphics are not great, nothing spectacular. And the constant mouse swirl started to hurt my wrist! I love point and click games, but this was a tad obnoxious. Even the most obscure object/wall/door/etc. may be a clue and you just can't know until you click over it. I guess I prefer games that are a lot more straight forward and logical. I don't want to spend hours just swirling my mouse aimlessly around a particular scene in hopes of finding something. I am a true adventure gamer and I have played a bunch of really amazing games. 4 stars (Spainfinatic) - I have used Civilization 3 for years, and also Civilization 3 Conquests Expansion pack, for years. The infinite possibilites every time you do the game is amazing! Also, in Civilization, you don't just...BEAT the game. Rather, you beat a type of scenario. For example. One time i was Isabella of the Spaniards(!THE BEST!) and i became really, really powerful. I had nuclear weapons, and no one else did. I drove out everyone else to South America and Africa (haha!) and took Asia, Europe, and North America all to myself. Still, though, that was only one scenario, and i didn't do the space race. Actually, i've never finished the space race, come to think of it. BUT THIS GAME IS GREEEAAAAAAAT! 4 stars (Fun and Addicting...sound familar??) - If you liked civ 2, then civ 3 is right up your alley. All the little things that civ 2 lacked, civ 3 makes up for. The first day I bought this game I must have played for 14 hours straight its that addicting, the game actually keeps you from doing or thinking about anything else except the game... The game does not run slow at all, it runs at a speed comparable to civ2 if not a little bit faster, and the A.I. is much smarter and more challenging to contend with. If you remember Colonization and the original civilization this game has all the features you were wishing for years ago. More animation within the gameplay, not too much because that would take away from this classic strategy game, higher level of intricacy within the game engine, the game has become fully mind absorbing, you are constantly desring to improve your nation and the city improvements actually morph throughout different time periods, arial views of cities are much more appealing than we've seen before. But be warned its hard to stop playing once you start. I can't explain it, find out for yourself. 5 stars (Awesome) - This game was really good and that everyone who likes building armies should try it. It's only a little slow so don't let th... 4 stars (Lots of fun, where's part 2?) - This is an immensely satisfying journey through the life of a Clone Commando, the elite units in the Clone Wars. Featuring fantastic squad-level action, the game shows you parts of Star Wars that you've been wanting to see for years. Your three squadmates are realized expertly, with convincing AI and squad tactics, as well as engaging animation and voice work. However, be aware that this game is reasonably short, rather easy, and ends with a Halo 2 style "Part I" cliffhanger that leaves you wondering when the next one came out, and why they didn't just print "Part I" right there on the box. 5 stars (STAR WARS REPUBLIC COMMANDO) - This game was really fun. I think that it's the best game that they have come out with for Star Wars. It has really good graphics and phrases. Please be aware that you have to have a video card that supports vertex shading, if not, the game won't run. Overall, this game was the BOMB!!! 5 stars (Much better than the movie, Excellent Single Player) - This game produced the most enjoyable experience since Half Life 2. I generally play first-person-shooter once or twice, then never play again; not this game. I only bought it becase it seemed similar to "Brothers in Arms" with its squad-leader element. I was not expecting much as I normally enjoy WWII-style games (I also loathed the latest three Star Wars films) but was very suprised how good it really was. From the beginning, I could sense the high production values. The story line, dialogue, and voice acting were excellent, especially for a video game. I felt I got to know my squadmates in Republic Commando much better than in Brothers in Arms. There were lots of little touches and polish that made it enjoyable to play through many times. Music, top-notch. I don't know if the music is from the films, but it shares the same epic quality. 5 stars (Dungeon Siege: Legends of Aranna Expansion Pack) - This game rocks!!I cant beleive how huge it is.I have played this game for well over 60 hours and still have not completed it. 3 stars (Mediocre medieval masher) - This game was recommended to me by a friend. It's similar to Diablo II in nature, but I would say that it's a much better game. That being said, it's a pretty boring and unengaging piece of software. The game looks good. The controls are good. But... no story, no problem solving, no puzzles, and battles can almost happen without your input, they're so computer assisted. It almost does it all for you, especially since the spellcasting is basically useless aside from healing and summoning. I do like some features of the game like potion sorting, customizing character attack perameters, etc. I do think the game is quite beautifully rendered for the type of game that it is (diabloesque), but that eventually got tired and I ended up not finishing it. Replay value is non-existent here. Mediocre fare. 3 stars (disappointed) - Unfortunately this game is rated as working on the XP. The expansion does work on the XP. And is very good. The reason I don't rate the game higher is that the origional Dungeon Seige starts working, but then around the mid point it crashes. It replaces the screen with squares of green. Once they appear, nothing can be done. I E-mailed Microsoft and the developers and they insisted that I just had to erase the game from the computer and then reload the game onto the computer. It then crashed the same way. I gave up after three crashes. But as I say, the expansion does work and is quite fun. The main game is also fun until it crashes. ... 4 stars (Fun game, but a little buggy) - I've been into the mechwarrior games for years, and this compilation pack is a great deal on the MW4 series. There are some bugs in the programs, I've had a few complete system hangs in the middle of missions, and the pathfinding abilities of the other mechs on your side are really bad, they get stuck behind buildings and can even get stuck on each other in tight quarters preventing any of them from moving and forcing you to restart the mission. Despite the bugs, this is a fun, fast-paced game, and I've enoyed many hours playing it. 5 stars (Great game) - I loved Mechwarrior 2 back in the day. I decided to try this game and for the cheap price I am very happy. Make sure you have a good joystick with 6 or 8 buttons, my old 4 button didn't cut it. 5 stars (One of the best games ever, worthy of the Mechwarrior namesake) - This game is a great deal of fun. Mechwarrior 2 is my all time favorite game... Mechwarrior 3 fell well short of expectations. Then came, finally, Mechwarrior 4. The game play is dynamic and fast paced. The weapons behave in a "realistic" manner. Damage is inflicted in a life like way also. For example, destroy a leg and the mech hobbles and can no longer go in reverse. The graphics are a touch old, but still look great. The sounds are also great. The different levels, recruit to veteran, offer vastly different challenges. I had to start again because the game was too difficult, recruit turned out to be just right. Anyway, buy this game! ... 4 stars (Very good for a Star Wars game) - I've got to state up front that I suffer from major Star Wars burnout -- the first movie (1977) was great, everything else has been merchandising -- so my praise for this game is not given lightly. Gameplay is smooth and dynamic, some Star Wars games we've had in the past have been really dreadfully behind the times, this feels like it's state-of-the-art. The space combat is a welcome addition. My son clued me in on new characters previously not available to be played. It looks great on the screen. Overall? For a Star Wars game, very good. For any other game, ok. It's an improvement on previous Star Wars games, but for my money I just do not want to hear Obi Wan Kenobi's voice encouraging me to trust the force or take a droidica apart or anything like that. I'm just sick of Star Wars in general. Now, my son, who's eleven, thinks this is the best game he's played since Halo 2. So go forth and figure. 5 stars (THIS IS AN AWSOME SEQUEL THE BEST STAR WARS GAME EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) - I got this game and the SW Episode 111 dvd on the same day which was the release date. Once I started playing this game I was very pleased. 2 stars (Splendid graphics, but...) - Ok, I'll start with the graphics. I have high end PC (AMD 64-bit 3500+, Radeon X800XT 256mb, S-ATA Western Digital, 2 GB RAM) and there were no troubles with running the game at highest settings. The game is really beautiful - there are flying birds, crocodiles, the terrain is funny when you zoom on it. But for me this is the only good thing in the game. For example, why the **** you need that animated traveling steam engine? It does not change anything in the game. Only increases the lag in the game... You have many nations to choose from, but the final result is the same upgrades, almost the same units. I and one mate of me played the game over the LAN. He was with the Russians, me with the English guys. Practically, the only difference was that the Russians speak in Russian... I don't think that having the home town is big advantage. About the maps - I did not find random generated maps, which for me is big issue. I want to play every time on different maps. This gives me much more fun than to play on a map that I already know. And finally, when I wanted to uninstall the game it took me a lot of time just waiting to initialize uninstalling process. The whole process took about 3 minutes! In general the game lost the feeling of its predecessors. I don't feel it like AoE II. BTW, the same is with the EA II. For me much better are AoE II and the first EA. So, I'm going to sell my copy of AoE III and keep playing Empires Dawn of the Modern World. 4 stars (Not bad at all!) - I was a little antsy about picking up this title. A lot of the reviews are extremely mixed and offered up a wide variety of pros and cons for this game. I became a hard boiled fan of AOE1 way back when it first came out and you'd often find me facing off with friends via LAN while my Phonecian war elephants ran amok through their ranks. AOE2 was even better, allowing better tactics for your infantry and cavalry as well as great seige equipment and castles. So ...
