4 stars (Great game but very unstable) - Not going to go into specifics of the game cause I think that's pretty much covered but the game is great overall, when it doeesn't crash your system. I have installed the game on 2 of my desktops and my laptop and the game crashes on all three. All three of my computers are well equipped to handle the game with updated drivers so I don't why this should happen. Thank god for the auto-save feature. 1 stars (Don't waste your money yet.) - I can't believe they shipped the game in this condition. It constantly freezes or the screen turns blue and informs you of a severe memory leak. I have heard nothing but problems from others and there has been no online help pertaining to this from firaxis or 2kgames. 5 stars (Roxio Easy Media Creator 7.5 review) - This is a very simple program to use & has many nice features. I'm mainly using it to make picture videos & it does a good job at it. 4 stars (One of the better consumer Video Editing/DVD Authoring solutions) - I am suprised to see so many people trash this suite so quickly. I never use it for burning CDs/DVDs/Audio player (Nero, Winamp anyone?), but a combination of Roxio Capture, Videowave Professional and DVD Builder is really good for camcorder DV->DVD video editing and conversion. Features include support for still images, videos of differing resolutions/specs, video effects, overlays, text overlays, etc. you name it. Pinnacle Studio 9 is still a notch better in terms of features (the only feature that this suite doesn't seem to have - manipulation of audio volume of video tracks in the timeline), but its wickedly unstable and gets my Oscar for the most crash friendly program. Call it my uncanny luck, but Studio used to corrupt my projects just after I spend hours editing the video and done with it making me start all over again. I was looking for a stable alternative and this suite has saved my day. 1 stars (Extremely Unstable Program) - After spending 6 weeks capturing and editing a video, which the program did well, the burning process is extremely unstable. It will burn the video to a DVD-RW (rewrightable) disk but not to a non rewritable disk. I have tried 4 different manufacturers DVD disk and after 2 1/2 hours it takes to burn, I get error messages on every one and the disks will not play. I have wasted time and disks (they are unusable after the burning) to get no results. I have spent hours with Roxio's direct email support and with phone support and get "this is most unusual" but no solutions. I have deleted and reinstalled the program 3 times, as suggested by tech support, and still get the same results. I have sent for a back up disk as support also suggested that the original disk may be faulty.... 4 stars (Very good for a Star Wars game) - I've got to state up front that I suffer from major Star Wars burnout -- the first movie (1977) was great, everything else has been merchandising -- so my praise for this game is not given lightly. Gameplay is smooth and dynamic, some Star Wars games we've had in the past have been really dreadfully behind the times, this feels like it's state-of-the-art. The space combat is a welcome addition. My son clued me in on new characters previously not available to be played. It looks great on the screen. Overall? For a Star Wars game, very good. For any other game, ok. It's an improvement on previous Star Wars games, but for my money I just do not want to hear Obi Wan Kenobi's voice encouraging me to trust the force or take a droidica apart or anything like that. 2 stars (Splendid graphics, but...) - Ok, I'll start with the graphics. I have high end PC (AMD 64-bit 3500+, Radeon X800XT 256mb, S-ATA Western Digital, 2 GB RAM) and there were no troubles with running the game at highest settings. The game is really beautiful - there are flying birds, crocodiles, the terrain is funny when you zoom on it. But for me this is the only good thing in the game. For example, why the **** you need that animated traveling steam engine? It does not change anything in the game. Only increases the lag in the game... You have many nations to choose from, but the final result is the same upgrades, almost the same units. I and one mate of me played the game over the LAN. He was with the Russians, me with the English guys. Practically, the only difference was that the Russians speak in Russian... I don't think that having the home town is big advantage. About the maps - I did not find random generated maps, which for me is big issue. I want to play every time on different maps. This gives me much more fun than to play on a map that I already know. And finally, when I wanted to uninstall the game it took me a lot of time just waiting to initialize uninstalling process. The whole process took about 3 minutes! In general the game lost the feeling of its predecessors. I don't feel it like AoE II. BTW, the same is with the EA II. For me much better are AoE II and the first EA. So, I'm going to sell my copy of AoE III and keep playing Empires Dawn of the Modern World. 4 stars (Not bad at all!) - I was a little antsy about picking up this title. A lot of the reviews are extremely mixed and offered up a wide variety of pros and cons for this game. I became a hard boiled fan of AOE1 way back when it first came out and you'd often find me facing off with friends via LAN while my Phonecian war elephants ran amok through their ranks. AOE2 was even better, allowing better tactics for your infantry and cavalry as well as great seige equipment and castles. So ...
