5 stars (Best portal book) - Best book for learning WebSphere portal (and I have them all). The redbook is also useful but this book is the first one you should read. 5 stars (This is a must-have for WebSphere Portal teams) - This book is packed full of clear and concise definitions of how WebSphere Portal works, along with step-by-step tutorials that fianlly put everything in one place. If you need to install, configure, design, develop, debug, troubleshoot and rollout a Portal 5.0.2 environment, this is an essential tool. My personal book is annotated, dog-eared and full of sticky notes, and has proven an invluable asset. 4 stars (Excellent resource for new and experienced portal teams) - Anyone who is involved with WebSphere Portal should have this book on their shelf. This book covers a broad spectrum of portal topics that make it valuable when researching a problem or designing a portal solution. If you are just starting out with portal you may want to skim one or two of the chapters (such as chapter 5) which is relevant in theory but may not be accurate for the latest released versions of the software. Many of the other chapters are right on, covering topics such as JSR 168 and WSRP which are continuing to grow both in capability and interest. Enjoy! ... 4 stars (Definitive book for understanding DNN) - I had just started playing around with content management systems when I can across DNN. At first, the interface seemed slick and all seemed to be going great guns, even when I had not read any book or reviews of DNN. Ane then came the problems....some pages wouldn't get deleted...the DNN tree just didn't seem to work. That was when I bought the book and enjoyed every topic it covered. I was helped a lot by the ASP.Net forum, where all sorts of issues were discussed. Overall, a pleasant experience and would recomment this over the other VB.Net book for DNN. 1 stars (A Huge Disappointment) - Two of us have been trying since 9:00 this morning to get DotNetNuke installed on a development server using the instructions in this book. It is now 9:00 in the evening. We aren't newbies, either--I have used SQL Server and ASP.Net for several years. During the course of our day, we discovered several outright errors is the installation chapter (for example, the wrong SQL Server password is shown in the Web.config example) and the web site for the book is woefully incomplete in its errata notes. I rarely give books single-star reviews, but this one is deserved. If a zero-star rating was available, that's what I'd give it. 5 stars (Shaun Walker is the Obi Wan of DNN) - How can you do better than having a book written by the guy that leads the project? 3 stars (Yeah, the graphics are nice but its not that fun....) - Unless you cheat like a Cacodemon, otherwise you get killed quick. This expansion pack takes the award for the Fastest Killing of a Player, less than 3 minutes. The only game that is as bad is the first Aliens Vs. Predator game. I bought this dark game at the discount bin of my local game store, thinking that it would be more interesting (or fun) than the original game (which I played all the way to the end, cheat-cheat-cheat). I was expecting something like a more intense version of Serious Sam but it plays alot like Resident Evil. In contrast, Half-Life 2 was alot more fun to play - despite its Police-State registration process. Doom 3 needs to be more fun and less Funhouse. 5 stars (Better than the original) - This game is 10x better than the game it came with. Get this game and you will experience doom! The level designs are more interesting and frightening. The action is faster and makes you think quick. Much Much better than regular doom3. 4 stars (A Step Up for DOOM 3) - Better overall. Smooth install. Better weapons. The Artifact is fun to use. Faster and more variable levels. Just when it starts to get too tedious (and it does), some element of the game significantly changes and it's more fun again. Only a few problems to solve during the game. There was nothing particularly amusing about this game, no real levity, and I never really felt like my monster fighting skills were improving from level to level. Neat graphics though, claustrophobic environment, better blasting satisfaction, but for me...no real immersion. For a WORLD GONE MAD, goofy and imaginative, visually very interesting, often really creepy, a "how the hell am I supposed to do that", blast 'em to pieces, WHOA kinda game.... PAINKILLER :) ...
