4 stars (Extensis Photo Imaging Suite) - Pros: Great bundle, solid, friendly interface. Cons: Missing Portfolio Manual, Big ticket price. If you have virtually any experience in digital imaging, and have not heard the name "Extensis" mentioned in some form or another, then I suspect you have been hiding in a spider cave somewhere in the desert. I have personally owned, and used all of their software programs at one time or another, and can personally vouch for their reliability, and usefulness. And so, in keeping up with the "Jones's"(I.E. Adobe), The great folks at Extensis have just released their latest and greatest suite of programs titled, Extensis Photo Imaging Suite. for the purposes of brevity, I will refer to this program as EPI Suite in this review. The Extensis product line is extensive, and broad in its scope. It currently stands at roughly 20 plus programs all targeted at digital imaging tools including type and layout programs. This newest Suite of programs contain the top 5 programs all bundled together into one singular "Suite" of powerful creative tools. All of these programs function independently of each other, and do not include a "Version Cue" style of interface like its Adobe counterpart. That about wraps it up for Extensis Photo Imaging Suite. Every program included in this suite is another powerful step in the workflow of photo imaging capabilities. To go from enhancing an image, cleaning it up, masking it off, framing it, upscaling it, to finally cataloguing it, Extensis Photo Imaging Suite rocks. Without exception, I could, and do use every one of these programs in my daily imaging, and will for a long time to come. In closing I want to urge all of you to take a good look at this great suite of programs from Extensis. I know that many of you out there think that the only program that you need to be fully digital is Adobe Photoshop. 2 stars (If you truely value your data, consider another more dependable product.) - I have been performing system backups with Ghost 9.0 for over a year now, with no problems. Recently, my system disk crashed twice in a matter of a month. The first time I spent four days getting everything to work again using Ghost restore. Barely got it. The second time I was not so fortunate. I am seeking another means of data backup. This version is half of what the previous versions were. PROS: Nice, easy interface. Backup data without rebooting or shutting down. CONS: Resource intensive! The snapshot feature that allows you to backup while you "work" is a resource hog, whether you are doing backups or not. It has proven unreliable for me, overall, mainly due to poor restoration features. Backs up great! But if you want to restore... uh, sorry! And of course, Norton's support is sub-par. Hope you can surf support websites well and speak Indian. Don't buy it. Give your money to another company that put some real thought into their product, and supports it. Or use an earlier version. 1 stars (Norton Ghost a Bust) - I have a shared drive on a small network running XP. Ghost is an old DOS program which doesn't like shared drives, doesn't like networks and doesn't like XP. Strongly recommend purchasing something else for this application. Then I started reading these reviews and found that I was not alone. Based on the recommendations in these reviews, I downloaded the 15 day trial version of True Image 8.0 from Acronis.
