4 stars (Makes Organization seem possible for even the messiest people!) - Excellent book with great tips, tricks, and encouragement for getting your life organized to be functional and to suit your needs. This book is lively and interesting as it tackles organizational problems, offering anecdotes and sympathy that ease the process. This book makes organization seem possible for even the messiest people! 5 stars (Great book) - Great guideline for someone who has never been organized or wouldn't know where to begin. Covers many areas (household, home office, office). Even suggests some tools. I loved it and reccommend it to everyone I know! 3 stars (worth buying) - the first few chapters get to the heart of the problem and solve what the emotional barriers are for us not staying organized. those chapters were great! i also like the way she addresses the actual act of organizing. she encourages you to organize with your natural instinct/personality and that there isn't one set system for everyone. she also gives excellent tips on various ways to organize items. but again w/an emphasis on only using those techniques if they actually work for you. her time lines for how long it will take total to organize an area are realistic. however, her idea is to spend several hours all at one time to get a room organized. we have all done that before. it doesn't work. if it did we wouldn't be considering buying yet another organization book. she also almost encourages people to keep their clutter. there are good lists of what she calls "no brainer" things to toss out. but they are just that- "no brainers." a good accompanying book to get would be "sink reflections" by marla cilley. while morgenstern encourages us to waste an entire weekend and most of our free evenings just to get one room organized and she helps you save things you know you won't use but just can't get rid of. cilley encourages us to spend just 15 min to one hour and certainly not your valuable family time ... 5 stars (Very Motivating!) - This is the best book ever about clutter! It gets you excited and motivated. You can't wait to clear out your life of clutter! I have shared it with several friends and family. Kingston is the best! 5 stars (The only book you'll need about space clearing) - I'm not one into "new age psychobabble" but Karen Kingston's advice in this book did alot for me ... and the dividends continue paying off to this day. I read this book at a down time in my life and, indeed, I never realized why I was holding onto old letters, graduation caps and gowns from schools that held nothing but bad memories for me, and magazines from nearly 10 years prior. I admit that I'm not as bad as other people but I cluttered up the little space that I had and I felt it. Once I started questioning why I was keeping stuff, I had the strength to let it go and not feel bad about it. I haven't looked back since. After re-reading this book, it strengthened my resolve to keep clutter out of my life as best I can. Her reasoning is based on common sense, really, not "real" Feng Shui: If your friends do nothing but drag you down, time to move on. If those letters from an old flame hold nothing but bad memories, what's the point in torturing yourself by keeping them? If you haven't worn that outfit yet, what makes you think you'll wear it sometime this year (even though you've been promising yourself you're going to lose weight to get back into those jeans for years)? Karen also gives advice on how to reduce the chance of re-introducing clutter into your life by questioning the purpose of every single piece of paper you have. Through reading her book, I have become conscientious of clearing out every so often and I find myself, indeed, questioning every paper that I intend to keep (and many papers hit the recycle bin because of that!). Same thing for clothes: If they don't fit, bundle them up and give them to people who can use them. Her book also enabled me to let ... 5 stars (Sink Reflections Reinforces the Website) - I am a big FlyLady fan and I subscribe to the website. I find the website really motivates me because of all those daily e-mails. The book is handy when you don't have time to get on the web and also if you like things in printed form like I do. Those emails can be overwhelming sometimes and that's when I turn to the book. The system is fabulous--baby steps towards getting your home and your life organized. The book is a condensed version of the website. You can really get all you need from the site, so if you are an avid internet user, you really don't need the book. I like it anyway. 5 stars (FlyLady Gave Me a PEACEFUL Home!) - I suppose I don't fall into the sterotypical FlyBaby category. My husband & I don't have any children. I spend most of my week in the office, shuttling from one meeting to the next. I am not a stay at home wife or mother. Yet, although FlyLady's tips and routines may seem obvious to some, they weren't obvious to ME. I am not depressed. I am a very confident, intellegent, successful professional. But when it came to my home, it was totally out of control. And I kept falling into the trap of thinking that the CHAOS of our home must be due to some complex, time management problem. I've never been much of a pack-rat, neither has my husband. So, the amount of clutter in our home was minimal (though there was SOME...especially in our attic, laundry room and garage). Our problem has always been trying to find a way to keep up w/ the daily chores of life. My husband & I both spend our mornings & evenings fighting grid-lock traffic in the city. We spend the majority of day running from meeting to meeting in our respective careers. We get home at night, exhausted most of the time. Nobody wants to cook. Nobody wants to clean. Nobody wants to pick up and put stuff away, or throw out the stuff we don't need. Then the weekend rolls around & we're playing "catch up." No time for us or our ma... 5 stars (Domestic Goddess of Domestic Tranquility) - Thoroughly up-to-date, this handbook of household management addresses all the issues of keeping the modern house, including the "why" of keeping house. We keep house because there is a basic need to be clean and well-ordered in our homes. Our health and safety depend on knowing how to keep the foodstuffs safe, how to clean our living areas, and how to help keep our homes safe from outsiders. There is also great mental comfort in doing these tasks. The role of Goddess of Domestic Tranquility is a worthy one, and one might as well be a well-informed GDT. The topics are well-researched and the advice on how to keep one's goods in good condition is superior. Besides the material condition of the house, the paperwork condition is also addressed, with thorough explanations of the hows and whys of various insurances, contracts, and employing others to assist in household maintenance. I keep this book where I can reach it easily as it gets as much use as my Yellow Pages and favorite cook book. 5 stars (From 'cleaning' to 'housekeeping'.) - I'm a messy person. My mother would tell you this. My mother is, like her mother, an obsessive-compulsive cleaner, but not especially organized. I rebelled against the cleaning, which left me with nothing. No, this book isn't a miracle worker. It didn't magically turn me into Martha Stewart. However, I'm not atypical. I was born in 1981. My mother never taught me how to make hospital corners and make up the bed so that I was comfortable, fold clothing so that it actually fit well in the drawers, how to do laundry other than 'wash light stuff and dark stuff separate' and her idea of the hardiness of leftover food is still very optimistic. Home Comforts can't replace learning from a loved family member. For the many of us who didn't have that option, it's invaluable. It's not just the how, but the why; not just about being immaculate but about being comfortable at home.... 1 stars (You'll need insecticide and a lot of patience) - I have never owned a piece of software as buggy as this thing. I am running it on an AMD 64 3500+ system with RAID and SATA drives, XP Pro. This thing does nothing but crash. I got it to record a record, but when I went to the audio cleaning section, it crashed every time I tried to use the Wizard. The interface is not very intuitive and the whole thing is cobbled up with really stupid looking audio equipment faceplates and dials. What a mess. I have yet to make a recording with it. 1 stars (Don't purchase this if you have 10.4) - the utilities portion of this software package will not work on 10.4 and Norton said it won't be updating it. NOT WORTH THE MONEY. Go with one of the many other programs that can actually do the work. Norton has hit the skids! 1 stars (Shame on Norton) - Norton should have taken this product off the market. They had decided not to continue development for OS X 10.4 Tiger but didn't tell the coustomers leaving many like me to find out by tragic experiencce that their once great software is now dangerous to install and and difficult to uninstall. If you are running OS X 10.4 DO NOT INSTALL this program. 2 stars (Mac User beware) - Is Norton Antivirus reliable? I think that can be answered with a yes. Well, there are not so many Mac viruses around, so that statement is not validated in my own experience. What neither Amazon nor Symantec really tell you on first glance is that Antivirus 9.0 is NOT compatible with OSX 10.4. So I ended up buying Systemworks (for a steeper price then the Windows products no less) and it did not work. Two lengthy conversations with Symantec's service center in India later I knew that I had to dish otu another $40 for the upgrade to Antivirus 10.0 - you can get reimbuirsed for your purchase but it seems to take a lifetime. The Utilities package was unable to repair one of my disks wken I needed it... who knows why. Otherwise it seems to function OK under 10.4. Overall, my recommendation is if you have OSX 10.4 or plan to upgrade soon, look for another product. ... 4 stars (Very good for a Star Wars game) - I've got to state up front that I suffer from major Star Wars burnout -- the first movie (1977) was great, everything else has been merchandising -- so my praise for this game is not given lightly. Gameplay is smooth and dynamic, some Star Wars games we've had in the past have been really dreadfully behind the times, this feels like it's state-of-the-art. The space combat is a welcome addition. My son clued me in on new characters previously not available to be played. It looks great on the screen. Overall? For a Star Wars game, very good. For any other game, ok. It's an improvement on previous Star Wars games, but for my money I just do not want to hear Obi Wan Kenobi's voice encouraging me to trust the force or take a droidica apart or anything like that. I'm just sick of Star Wars in general. Now, my son, who's eleven, thinks this is the best game he's played since Halo 2. So go forth and figure. 5 stars (THIS IS AN AWSOME SEQUEL THE BEST STAR WARS GAME EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) - I got this game and the SW Episode 111 dvd on the same day which was the release date. Once I started playing this game I was very pleased. This is the only thing that really bothers me is the story mode because you have to complete certain objectives that got kind of annoying but besides that they still have Galactic Conquest which is awsome and so is Instant Action and you get to play as Jedi/Sith celeberties and HAn,Chewee,Jango,Baba and Lehia. This is a game I strongly recomened this game to die-hard Star Wars fans such as myself and fans of the original SW Battlefront and to some Battlefield,Halo,Unreal, fans. This game is so will worth the money!!!! 1 stars (Absolutely incredible letdown) - After a week plus with this game, my initial reaction has been confirmed time and time again - This is a true hack job, an incredible disappointment and waste of money for most consumers. 2 stars (Splendid graphics, but...) - Ok, I'll start with the graphics. I have high end PC (AMD 64-bit 3500+, Radeon X800XT 256mb, S-ATA Western Digital, 2 GB RAM) and there were no troubles with running the game at highest settings. The game is really beautiful - there are flying birds, crocodiles, the terrain is funny when you zoom on it. But for me this is the only good thing in the game. For example, why the **** you need that animated traveling steam engine? It does not change anything in the game. Only increases the lag in the game... You have many nations to choose from, but the final result is the same upgrades, almost the same units. I and one mate of me played the game over the LAN. He was with the Russians, me with the English guys. Practically, the only difference was that the Russians speak in Russian... I don't think that having the home town is big advantage. About the maps - I did not find random generated maps, which for me is big issue. I want to play every time on different maps. This gives me much more fun than to play on a map that I already know. And finally, when I wanted to uninstall the game it took me a lot of time just waiting to initialize uninstalling process. The whole process took about 3 minutes! In general the game lost the feeling of its predecessors. I don't feel it like AoE II. BTW, the same is with the EA II. For me much better are AoE II and the first EA. So, I'm going to sell my copy of AoE III and keep playing Empires Dawn of the Modern World. 4 stars (Not bad at all!) - I was a little antsy about picking up this title. A lot of the reviews are extremely mixed and offered up a wide variety of pros and cons for this game. I became a hard boiled fan of AOE1 way back when it first came out and you'd often find me facing off with friends via LAN while my Phonecian war elephants ran amok through their ranks. AOE2 was even better, allowing better tactics for your infantry and cavalry as well as great seige equipment and castles. So ...
