PS2 We Love Katamari

1 stars (God Bless Tommy Tallarico For Speaking The Truth) - This game sucks i hate it thats all i have to say may the force be with you all. (except you guys who dont see my reviews helpfull) 5 stars (a sense of humor that defies words, simple oh-so-fun gameplay) - We Love Katamari is a game with an identity disorder. Many times during the game, it calls itself Katamari Damacy, even though that was the name of its predecessor. But that's okay, that's just one of the many many little strange, funny, quirky, incredibly fun things about this game. So do I like this game? Let's just say, over the past month, since I got this game, it is the ONLY game I have played. That is very, very rare for me to only play one game. Enough said, this game is worth well more than the $30 you pay. 5 stars (How could you NOT love Katamari?) - Over the years, Japan has given us some really great rolled things. Sushi. Legendary scrolls. Pocky brand cookies. Uh, m... marijuana. From Japan. And believe me, the people who created this thing were on a lot of it. In keeping with the great Japanese rolling-things tradition, we are given 'We Love Katamari!', the sequel to 'Katamari Damacy', by the land of the Rising Sun, a game in which you roll a giant sticky ball over stuff and try to make it bigger! I won't mince words with you people: This game is insane. The cutscenes which serve to forward the already slightly incomprehensible story are completely nuts, the soundtrack is giddy and crazy, and the concept... well, you get to roll a ball around and pick up stuff with it. Not exactly 'Asteroids', this game. But I suppose even 'Asteroids' was considered odd in its heyday, and hey, that's why we now consider it great. The thing that makes those classic games really fun are their simple structure, which progressively becomes more difficult as time wears on. And I'd like to think that the 'Katamari' series is an effective attempt at recapturing that simple playability of the early video ...

PS2 Soul Calibur 3

3 stars (Worst AI I have ever seen) - The game is pretty, and it's fun to play with friends, although some of the added gameplay dynamics are frustrating: namely that once you're on the ground, you can expect to get hit 6-7 more times before you can so much as regain your footing, and even then, you're on the defensive for the rest of the match. The biggest problem with this game is that the single player, which you're practically forced to play if you ever want to unlock weapons/characters/armor, etc is awful. The main reason is the computer AI. Enemies vary between being 100% flawless (all of your moves are blocked, if not guard impacted, all of your throws negated, even though there should only be a 50% chance of that if someone's even fast enough to attempt negating it), and being 100% worthless. It punishes you for even trying to fight, because immediately after the enemy blocks your attack, he immediately counters with a lightning fast move before you can block it (even moves that knock an enemy off balance don't protect you from this counter attack). The enemy alternates between sitting completely still and not trying to block anything, to becoming completely impossible to harm at all; there is no in between. Skill is irrelevant, as I can beat computer opponents just as well with the character i've used since soul caliber 1 (which i consider myself quite skilled with) as with a new character who's moves I have no idea to enact (which I admit I am god awful with). This is because any hit you get off the computer is because it allowed you hit it. Tactics, switch moves, throwing off balance, fakeouts, etc do absolutely nothing against the computer. You're as likely to strike the computer with the most comnplicated and flawlessly executed maneuver in the history of fighting games as you are by closing your eyes and mashing the triangle button (try it, it works). Second reason is massive load times. Trying to play through story mode makes you wait 15 ...

Tales of Symphonia

5 stars (Oh my Gosh!) - This is an awesome game. I thought it looked quite stupid, but then I got hooked to the story line. I wanted to know what happened next in the story. I still haven't beaten the first disc and I have played for 22 hrs. Amazing game. I love it. It is a must have for GC owners because you can't beat it by renting it. You have to buy it. 5 stars ( Tales of Symphonia ) - This game has given me hours of fun and I am still working on it 4 stars (A gem.) - I picked this up for twenty dollars on my friend's reccomendations, and all I have to say is this: Oh my oh my oh my. <3 A lack of RPGs for the Gamecube? Namco saves the day! Tales of Symphonia is a game for the player who wants to get the most of of the experience. And believe me, when it ended (after eighty hours with the sidequests), I found myself craving more. STORY: 8/10 You really want to find out what happens next in this game. It starts out generic enough: Blah blah angels, tree of mana, chosen, etc...but soon enough there are plot twists that leave you reeling, and you find yourself actually feeling sad when the characters are sad. It's also quite funny. Points off, however, for the voice acting, which can be terribly melodramatic at times. Also, the story is kind of...killed by sidequests at some points. But that's okay, as long as you like lots of questin'. GAMEPLAY: 10/10 Yes, yes, YES. Finally, some great gameplay that isn't turn-based! Yep, it's live-action--really keeps you on your toes. You can play with three friends (which is much more fun then by yourself, although sometimes, you might be randomly placed offscreen while trying to fight). Once you master the sometimes complex battle system, you'll be linking attacks and pulling some of the coolest combos EVER. Fights are certainly hard enough-you NEED those Life Bottles. You must react quickly because you don't have too many opportunities to mull. Navigating and walking around towns is just plain fun, although the world map can...

Namco Museum

4 stars (Pretty good) - These are great renditions of the arcade classics though they aren't identical (i.e. they don't seem to be emulated). One concrete thing I noticed that is different than the original is that in Galaga, I think stage 10 is an exact duplicate of stage 1 in the arcade, but on this game it's just another harder level than the one before it. Pole Position is the most satisfying to play because it was designed with a horizontal monitor in the arcade so the entire screen on the GBA is used (with no scrolling). Dig Dug is the second best, because although it scrolls, the character's movements aren't so fast that the scrolling disorients you. Galaga and Galaxian are fun, but the screen are tiny because they had to squeeze a vertical arcade screen onto a horizontal display. Ms Pac Man is good, but it's a little hard to play with the scrolling, because you can't see where the ghosts are all the time. It's especially difficult when things get fast at the upper levels. You can play Ms. Pac Man without scrolling, but the screen is so small it's no fun that way. That's about all I can say about it. It was fun. I played it for a few weeks before pulling the cart out and putting it on the shelf. 5 stars (Great fun) - I really enjoy the games because they are not so hard that I can't figure them out. That is why I am having fun!! 3 stars (Not nearly as good as the consular versions) - Actually, if you've never played a " Namco Museum " game before, then it's probably a good idea to start out with this version, because unlike its consular counterparts (of which there are many), it only offers four games, namely Ms. Pac-Man, Galaga, Dig Dug, and Pole Position. In Ms. Pac-Man, your objective is to score as many points as possible by running around a series of mazes and chomping what are known as "pac-dots" all while avoiding the four ghost enemies - Inky, Blinky, Pinky, and Clyde. The gameplay of Dig Dug is similar to that of Ms. Pac-Man. You score po...
