And even the class is over now, I still read the book sometime to learn more. Thank you. 5 stars (An Excellent Guide to Introductory French) - This book was used in my French 101 and 102 classes: Introductory French 1 and 2. I really liked it. Although its strength is grammar and vocabulary, it also teaches some French cultures in every chapter. You can learn listening with audio-CDs. But learning speaking is very hard if you self-study (based on my experience). I utilized the workbook and audio-tapes fully. They were very helpful tools to learn. A great collegiate introductory French book! 2 stars (Frustrating.) - Ditto "ashamed" previous. The workbook is difficult to use, and filled with errors. The tapes are frustrating and uneven, switching from too-difficult narratives to too-easy exercises. I've been through 18 chapters and 9 tapes, and can't speak. 5 stars (Thumbs Up for Access to Health) - I just completed a health class and this was the textbook we used. I learned so much from using this book. This book is precise and to the point. It provides you with colorful pictures, charts, and definitions that's superb. It provides great information on Weight Management, Cancer, Heart Disease, Illicit Drugs, and Alchohol. No health class should go with out this book. This is defintely a great teaching tool for those that are taking a health class, or simply a great reference guide. The models are absolutely stunning. 5 stars (Amazing photographs, beaufiful book.) - Lawrence Grecco's photographs bridge the eroticism of the human figure with the exoticism of an ancient sport that is truly fascinating in every way. His compositional ability is exceptional; each of these images are powerful and almost every one of them can stand on their own quite well. 2 stars (Centralized administration a must-have, but spotty support) - My 100-user organization had Symantec Client Security 1.0 for two years. Had various problems including: - infections with suspicious processes that caused obvious problems for users, yet Symantec reported no virus. - twice, LiveUpdate imported new firewall policies that stopped a business-critical Access/SQL Server application from working until new firewall policies were deployed. - the firewall recently started acting erratically and had to be uninstalled from many workstations. - the products causes a very noticeable performance hit, really bad during scheduled scans. Since there was no more support for our 1.0 version, I convinced the CFO to buy version 3.0. The server migration failed without explanation and wiped out our 1.0 server configuration. For one day I tried reinstalling eight times on two different servers, following various procedures and troubleshooting steps. The online technical forum is not well supported - it looks like 5% of questions placed in the last month got any answers. It took another day after I registered for support to finally get a phone number to call. Then two hours on the phone and multiple downloads of components and tools still yielded no clues why the installation failed. Finally after a complete rebuild of the server, I discovered that changing a Group Policy setting (enable end users to select trusted publishers) fixed the problem. Now that it's installed, the product looks good. Remote client installation is very smooth, but given our history, I'll reserve final judgement for a few months. 4 stars (Great for Networks) - This is a must have for offices with small to medium size networks. There is a bit of work that goes into setting this up, but once you have it done, it works really well. The centralized managment of this product makes it all worth while. 4 stars (Very good for a Star Wars game) - I've got to state up front that I suffer from major Star Wars burnout -- the first movie (1977) was great, everything else has been merchandising -- so my praise for this game is not given lightly. Gameplay is smooth and dynamic, some Star Wars games we've had in the past have been really dreadfully behind the times, this feels like it's state-of-the-art. The space combat is a welcome addition. My son clued me in on new characters previously not available to be played. It looks great on the screen. Overall? For a Star Wars game, very good. For any other game, ok. It's an improvement on previous Star Wars games, but for my money I just do not want to hear Obi Wan Kenobi's voice encouraging me to trust the force or take a droidica apart or anything like that. I'm just sick of Star Wars in general. Now, my son, who's eleven, thinks this is the best game he's played since Halo 2. 2 stars (Splendid graphics, but...) - Ok, I'll start with the graphics. I have high end PC (AMD 64-bit 3500+, Radeon X800XT 256mb, S-ATA Western Digital, 2 GB RAM) and there were no troubles with running the game at highest settings. The game is really beautiful - there are flying birds, crocodiles, the terrain is funny when you zoom on it. But for me this is the only good thing in the game. For example, why the **** you need that animated traveling steam engine? It does not change anything in the game. Only increases the lag in the game... You have many nations to choose from, but the final result is the same upgrades, almost the same units. I and one mate of me played the game over the LAN. He was with the Russians, me with the English guys. Practically, the only difference was that the Russians speak in Russian... I don't think that having the home town is big advantage. About the maps - I did not find random generated maps, which for me is big issue. I want to play every time on different maps. This gives me much more fun than to play on a map that I already know. And finally, when I wanted to uninstall the game it took me a lot of time just waiting to initialize uninstalling process. The whole process took about 3 minutes! In general the game lost the feeling of its predecessors. I don't feel it like AoE II. BTW, the same is with the EA II. For me much better are AoE II and the first EA. So, I'm going to sell my copy of AoE III and keep playing Empires Dawn of the Modern World. 4 stars (Not bad at all!) - I was a little antsy about picking up this title. A lot of the reviews are extremely mixed and offered up a wide variety of pros and cons for this game. I became a hard boiled fan of AOE1 way back when it first came out and you'd often find me facing off with friends via LAN while my Phonecian war elephants ran amok through their ranks. AOE2 was even better, allowing better tactics for your infantry and cavalry as well as great seige equipment and castles. So ...
